Happy New Year

I know we are supposed to eat black eyed peas and cabbage on New Year's Day, but I'm just not feeling it. For some reason I'm craving breakfast! I fixed sausage, buttered wheat nut toast, cheese eggs, and orange juice. Yes, I drink my orange juice in a wine glass :) I'm geeky like that! Lol I hope this will inspire you to enjoy yourself today no matter whats on the menu. Happy New Year

  1. Hi Sonya, it's Debbie from The Next Chapter of my Life. :) I drink my orange juice out of a wine glass too! I was wondering about the meaning behind eating black eyed peas for New Years. I have heard they are supposed to bring you good luck, but I really don't know the tradition behind it. I was raised in Hawaii and I know that the Japanese culture makes mochi to share for New Years. It is a big community wide effort and they celebrate with a big feast afterwards. I've always thought that was lovely.

    Be blessed,

  3. Hello Sonya,

Thank you for stopping by my blog and not only leaving a comment, but also choosing to follow my updates.

Black eyed peas and cabbage ... this tells me you are from the south! Me too! I have eaten black eyed peas, cabbage and cornbread EVERY New Year's Day my entire life. Moving to the Montana prairie has not changed our family traditions (especially ones centered around food) - it seems they are bred into us.

I'm looking forward to following your blog.

  4. Mrs. B, hey girl! Yes ma'am it doesn't get anymore southern than me. Lol lol Thanks for the sweet comment and thanks for following me! God Bless :)
